Vectors

What is a Vector?

A Vector is a collection of points which form a line. The points on this line can be edited to construct virtually any line possible. DrawIt includes some basic Vectors that should give you an idea of what is possible. You can edit a vector by double-clicking it. The other layers will fade and the points will appear as little blue dots. These dots are connected by a black line, which is the path which makes up your vector. You also might see little blue dots: they are the control-points which one uses to create curves. Clicking on a red line between two points will insert a new point between these two.

Adding and inserting points

Double-click a shape to edit it. The background will fade and you can now go and alter the shape. Click in an empty region of the view to add a new point to the end of the path. Click on a line connecting two points to insert a point between those points. (the red line will indicate this)

Moving with the arrows

The previous paragraph spoke about positioning points using the arrow keys. It is also possible to navigate between points using these keys. Hold down alt and press the left or right arrow key to navigate between the points in the path. pressing the up or down keys (in combination with alt) will select the curves.

Creating curves

When you double-click a point DrawIt adds two control points to it. The first is used to change the curve that leads to the point, the second one is used to change the curve that leads away from this point to the next. One thing to note: when the path isn't closed, the first control-point has no effect when it is the first point in the path. The same goes for the second control-point of the last point in the path.
