MAPILab Rules for Exchange 2.4 Release

Program for creating and managing Microsoft Exchange Server and Small Business Server 2000/2003 server rules for processing incoming messages. The product provides much more flexibility and functionality than server rules created in Microsoft Outlook, supports any types of messages and uses a completely different technology in its work.

The release notes list important information you should know prior to deploying and using MAPILab Rules for Exchange, including known issues.

For detailed documentation on MAPILab Rules for Exchange, see the product's built-in help and product web-site.

In order to function properly the product requires the following:

• Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003 or Microsoft Small Business Server 2000/2003.
  Service Pack 3 or later is required for Microsoft Windows Server 2000;
• Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003.
  Service Pack 2 or later is required for Microsoft Exchange Server 2000;
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later;
• Full Exchange Administrator and Schema Admins rights to install;
• Administrator privileges to configure.

Please, use the following guides to properly install MAPILab Rules for Exchange:

• Just run setup.exe from the distribution package and follow the instructions. The installation of the program is fully automatic and does not require any particular manual operations by the system administrator.

This section explains MAPILab Rules for Exchange usage basics.

• MAPILab Rules for Exchange is administrated with the help of a snap-in application integrated into the Tools branch of the Exchange System Manager.
• After installing you can add rules by right-clicking MAPILab Rules for Exchange instance in the Exchange System Manager and selecting New -> Rule... Then you can configure rules by double-clicking them or right-clicking and selecting Properties in the context menu.

This section describes known issues for MAPILab Rules for Exchange. These issues may impede your ability to successfully deploy and use it. You should familiarize yourself with all of the known issues listed here prior to installing the software.

Known issues are listed based on setup errors and resolutions:

Cannot enable Schema Updates

Cannot modify Schema

Resolution

If setup reports this error during installation progress, most likely Schema Master computer is not the same with the MAPILab Rules for Exchange and setup cannot enable Active Directory Schema modification remotely.

If setup reports this error during installation progress, most likely logged in user has no Schema Admin rights because he(she) is logged on a sub-domain.
See resolution below.

In both cases above you have to use the following installation scenario:

• Active Directory modification:
  On the Schema Master computer (usually Primary Domain Controller) using user account with Schema Admins rights run setup, select Custom installation type and disable MAPILab Rules for Exchange components feature. Install the product with Active Directory Schema modifications only.
• Product setup:
  On the computer needed using user account with Domain Admins rights (in the domain which this computer belongs to) run setup, select Custom installation type and disable Active Directory Schema modifications feature. Install the product with MAPILab Rules for Exchange components only.

You can always uninstall MAPILab Rules for Exchange using Add/Remove Programs Control Panel applet.
