As mentioned above, Isotope can be used for data filtering, sorting and dynamic layout shaping. These features can be used one at a time, or combined together to provide really dynamic, modern Web interfaces.
Besides these three, Isotope also supports infinite scrolling, great for long pages where new items need to be added on the fly, as the user reaches the bottom of the page.
For the Isotope grid objects themselves, the plugin is not limited to pure image-based or text-based content, developers being able to place about anything they want inside it and then have it filtered or sorted as they see fit.
All the animations Isotope uses are CSS3-powered, but in the case of older browsers, a JavaScript fallback is provided to avoid layout and functionality problems.
The Isotope package contains lots of documentation and demos.
